Project: Depth Charge

Join us as we bring this wonderful 1964 20' Thompson Offshore back to life. She was on her way to the burn pile when we found her - and her owner was kind enough to deliver her free.  He wanted to save this lovely machine.

We are starting with a bare hull.

She is lapstrake, with magnificent lines.  Her transom needs to be replaced, and we have two small bad spots on the top lapstrake where the dash once met the hull.

Otherwise, her hull is in wonderful condition.

Her original power plant was an I/O.  Her foredeck and glass are gone...we received nothing but the bare hull.

We'll be rebuilding Depth Charge for our playground: Chesapeake Bay.  We are based in Annapolis.

Her primary role will be that of commuter to comfortably deliver us to our favorite waterside restaurants in Baltimore, Kent Island, Havre de Grace, St. Michaels & Solomons Island.   We also love our jaunts to Virginia Beach, Ocean City, and Atlantic City.

We chase Bluefish, Rock, Spot and keep a few crab pots wet.  She'll be well suited for this role as well.

We'll be powering with dual outboards.

We'll be giving this beauty an enclosed cockpit for comfortable travel and a custom half-tower with controls for running when we want the sun and wind washing over us.

When we are done re-building this magnificent vessel we'll be taking her to Alaska, where she will serve as our commuter between Sitka and our small private island that will be our winter home.

We invite you to follow our project.
